We regret to inform the membership that Diane Herbst has contacted us regarding Desi Herbst to let us know that Desi has Alzheimer's disease and is now in a facility.
She told us that he is very proud of his fraternity and that he really enjoyed their visit at the 50th reunion in Flint.

A message from Mark Roden.
Sigma Nu Brothers,
I hope all is well with you. For some of you it has been a long time since we’ve hung out and talked, others not that long.
We’re having an Alumni BBQ June 26th and we hope to see many of you there. It is a chance for brothers to get together in a social setting and meet some both the A-Section and B-section active members. We will plan to eat around 2:00 and for those who are interested we will probably head out to skips for a few cold ones later in the day. If you’re in town, and haven’t been out to the house in a while we would love to see you come out! Please let us know if you can attend so we can plan the food.
On a very serious note, the house is at a crossroads, both the physical structure and the membership. The structure needs at least 100K in capital improvements, and the membership is not growing. In March a group of Alumni and the actives tried to call every alumni member- about 700 people. If we were unable to call you, we sent an email, then followed up with a letter, and then the Arab (electronically and hard copy) which you hopefully got. Since September last year when Dane Miller gave his $50K pledge, we have received $25K in donations from our 700 alumni, an average of only $35 per person.
Based on the poor alumni response to the capital fundraiser (this is our first major drive), and the stagnant membership, a decision on the future of the physical house will be made this year. Although we have enough money for a new roof ($25K without the additional cost of wood replacement), we are reluctant to spend the funds knowing how much more work needs to be done and not knowing if the Alumni support is there for future fund raising. The old house is slowly crumbling. Sigma Nu Eta Mu will go on, but perhaps not at the corner of Flushing and Elms.
This is not a decision that only a small group of us want to make, but at the same time it seems that interest from the alumni is not that great. We would like to see people some out in June, think things over, and then come to Alumni day and make a decision.
Please forward this on to other brothers I missed.
Hope to see you in June and September and as always feel free to send me any comments or questions or if you want to get more involved.
